Young Climate Warriors

Children round the world ...

Updated: Sep 13, 2019

Are you ready for the summer holidays?? Being a Young Climate Warrior means being part of a big team, all doing the SAME challenge in the SAME week. Have you ever wondered who your team mates are? This summer, we need your help to create an enormous paper chain made up of all your self-portraits. Your challenge for the holidays is to download our 'paper chain summer holidays' Young Climate Warriors' template (see end of this blog or download on the Home page, or Challenges page of our website); draw or paint yourself on the template, or create your own self-portrait; add your name and tell us what you like about being a Young Climate Warrior.

You are part of a team of nearly 600 Young Climate Warriors and together you have completed 17 challenges!  Definitely something to shout about! We would like to use your self-portraits to make a big piece of art showing how, together, you are all joining hands to help tackle climate change.

J K Rowling, the creator of Harry Potter, said, 'We do not need magic to change the world, we carry all the 'power' we need inside ourselves already: we have the 'power' to imagine better.'

Part of this 'power' is the way you can think yourself into other people’s situations and take up challenges here in your own homes to help other families, often in the poorest parts of the world, who are being affected by climate change.  If you’d like to hear from other children all over the world about their experiences of a changing climate, have a look at this short UNICEF video: https://youtu.be/QqVIWGknd24

Don’t forget to send us a scanned copy of your paperchain self-portrait (or if you can’t scan it, a photograph will do), attach it when you HIT THE RED BUTTON!
